Dental Sealants

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants help to protect healthy teeth from decay and are ideal for both adults and children. Sealants are done quickly and easily in our office and can provide you with one to two years of cavity protection. Dental sealants are most used in children and adults with no cavities. An exam will be performed prior to the procedure to determine if you’re a viable candidate for sealants.

What is a Dental Sealant?

A dental sealant is a clear liquid that is painted over the tooth’s surface and into the grooves of the tooth then cured or hardened with a special light. Once cured, the sealant hardens and offers a protective layer to the tooth to prevent decay from eradicating the enamel and causing a cavity that will then need a filling. Sealants are done with no anesthesia, making them a quick and easy way to maintain a healthy smile.

What are the benefits of Dental Sealants?

There are many benefits to having a dental sealant placed and some of these include:

  • The sealant protects your tooth from staining and discoloration
  • Sealants prevent cavities from forming due to decay
  • Sealants are ideal for both pediatric and adult patients
  • Sealants last for one or more years and are virtually invisible to the naked eye
